There cannot be anyone anywhere who doesn’t like Hot chocolate! Right? Now imagine, a Hot chocolate that tastes like bananas… I don’t have to imagine it, because I tasted it in Baltimore at the Chocolatea Cafe with a side of French Toast. And it was divine. So I came home and tried to replicate it, and here you go- my version of the Banana Split Hot Chocolate! It’s less sweeter than the original, but at this point, I think I’m just romanticizing the trip.
The best part about this Banana Split Hot Chocolate is that you can make this with skimmed milk ( I made mine with 2%) and you’ll still get an incredibly creamy end-result with NO ADDED SUGAR! The banana creates the creaminess and sweetens the drink. How do you like them apples???!!!
It’s so easy to make, that you can delegate this to the children in the house (or totally incompetent spouses) and know that they cannot get it wrong!
How do you make it? Blend ripe bananas and add it to warm milk and chocolate. Blend away and pour into cups! That’s it! Only thing to remember – the riper the banana, the more beautifully the flavour comes through.
When you make these (which I really think you SHOULD!), be sure to SHARE YOUR PHOTOS with me through Facebook, Instagram (@loveisinmytummy) or Twitter (@loveisinmytummy). I’d love to see what you cook from here and will share it with pride on my social media feeds.

Ok, I would have never thought to put a banana in my hot chocolate but now you have me intrigued! Beautiful photos!! Loved the story about being in Baltimore! I have a similar fond place in London I love to go to for those special coffees and treats!! I’ll be trying this recipe!

For some reason, no matter how close we come to replicating the original, the memories associated with a special place seem to sweeten it more and make the replicas seem a little ‘less’!
