Stock your homes with Reynolds Heat & Eat containers this holiday season to make leftover and goodies management a breeze!
Say what you will, the second half of the year is way more exciting than the first half. After the countdown to the New Year at midnight, the first 6 months have nothing else going on but work and taxes. Bleh! Sure there’s Summer and Spring but I’ve always been a Fall girl! After what seems like eternity, we’re finally stepping into the super fun part of the year, with back-to-back waves of holidays and festivities lashing out at us one after another. Not just in the US, but also in India – Navaratri’s already started and Diwali’s just around the corner.
Combine that with Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas, we are looking at pretty busy weekends coming up with shopping, company, food and tons of laughter and fun. And where there’s a party, there’s ALWAYS leftovers. My mother always says, cook for more people than you are expecting, provided your excess doesn’t translate to waste, because it is better to deal with excess than the lack thereof and it’s a philosophy I’ve always followed religiously.
And if you’re in/from India, there’s this customary door-to-door drop off of Diwali sweets and treats, a ritual that has scarred many a child in us – because there’s always that one house where the dogs really never warmed up to you and their salivating jaws combined with a hungry growl that wants to eat your soul have forever haunted your nightmares! And you have to wait there, for the neighbours to return your box/plate.
There’s an unspoken rule among guests and hosts that when you send food or treats to someone, that person is expected to ‘return’ the container filled with ‘a little something’ – NEVER return an empty box! It’s rude! Tch tch tch…. Which means I was left waiting in neighbours’ houses for atleast 15 minutes while they transferred my sweets and replaced it with theirs.
So as a host, when I am packing food for guests (leftovers, holiday goodies or regular batches of cookies, brownies and the like), I feel ‘icky’ sending over my favourite Tupperware or Pyrex, not just because I fear it may not find it’s way back to me, but because I feel like my guests will now feel obligated to return the ‘favour’ by filling the returning container with delicious confections of their own. Not to mention the fact that I have now given them dishes to wash, and no one loves doing dishes, even me and I have selective OCD!
This is where disposable containers come in – drop-off and walk away, giving the hungry dogs lesser time to get to ya – but then again, most are made of unsafe plastic and not microwave safe. Which may be fine if all you were sending out were cakes and cookies, but rice and curry, pasta or noodles – they’re another matter.
On my recent Walmart run, I picked up these Reynolds™ Disposable Heat & Eat containers – they’re sold in packs of 8 and 6 and come with lids. But that’s not the best part!
If you’re as conscious about reducing plastic in your life, but are quite not ready to completely give up the convenience of disposable containers, then take comfort in the fact that Reynolds™ Disposable Heat & Eat containers are a great alternative to plastic – made from a mixture of natural bagasse and bamboo fibers using a process similar to that used in making paper, they are perfectly recyclable and microwave-safe! PLUS, they come with a BPA-Free, recyclable plastic lid that keeps your food from leaking out and making a mess during transport!
They had me at ‘made with Plants’ !! Find out more about these amazing containers, get recipes and more HERE.

I pack my husband’s lunch all the time and he will come home and say he ate his food cold because he didn’t know how to heat it up. I love how you wrote the instructions right on the lid!

My sister just had twins and we are bringing them meals to help out. These containers would be perfect for this and I love that she wouldn’t have to worry about clean-up either 🙂
Tina Dawson says
Congratulations on the twins!! I can imagine how chaotic it is with two new borns! I bet she’d appreciate the packed meals with no cleanup! 🙂

I think these are the coolest new product! What a great idea for Thanksgiving, too!
Tina Dawson says

I haven’t seen these containers yet. I’m definitely going to stock up on these before the holidays. I cook enough for everyone to take home something. The problem is, I always remind family, if they plan on bringing food home they should bring their own containers and they NEVER do and I lose tons of expensive containers every year.
Tina Dawson says
Not anymore Christine! Stock up, and be sure to use the coupon! Savings! 🙂
Debi at Life Currents says

So true, Debi!

I really enjoyed reading about customs in India. As for the Reynolds Wrap Take and eat containers…wow! As my grandmother would say “Best thing since sliced bread!” What a great way to take food to a potluck or a friend and not worry about getting your dishes back. Less stress all around! I can think of so many times these would be great. And they look nice, too!
Tina Dawson says
Thank you so much Amanda! These may just be the best things since sliced bread! I hope you give it a try! don’t forget the coupon! 😀
Tracy | Baking Mischief says
That’s such a good point about the obligation of an empty container! And I know I definitely prefer to receive things in disposable containers because I don’t have to worry about something happening to someone else’s dishes while I am cleaning and transporting them! This is a great option, and I love that it is plant-based, since I really do try to cut down on my plastic waste.
Tina Dawson says
OMG Tracy – the fear of breaking someone else’s dishes! I totally forgot that! Give these a try! I am really cutting down on plastics and this really put me at ease!
Ali @ Home & Plate says
I would use these all the time. It is so easy to throw your dish in the microwave with these new heat and eat storage containers. Saves time washing dishes too. I will be sure to keep an eye out for them in the stores.
Tina Dawson says
Thanks Ali! Don’t forget to use the coupon to save $1 when you pick these up. They’re at Walmart, right by the Reynolds Wraps. 🙂
